Evelyn Marie (Lackey) Smith, 95, of Osceola, passed away Saturday March 24, 2017 at Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa. Evelyn was born in Winchester, TN on May 4, 1922, the daughter of James & Lillie Belle (Brown) Lackey. On January 9, 1941, she married Robert D. Smith in Lynchburg, TN. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2013 after 72 years of marriage. A member of Elkhart Church of Christ, Evelyn spent her years as a homemaker having lived in the North Beech Road area until health issues caused her to move to Hubbard Hill assisted living and later to Miller's Merry Manor. In addition to her parents & husband, Evelyn was also preceded in death by her son, Ron Smith and son-in-law, Dale Miller as well as 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Linda (Smith) Miller of Elkhart; her sons, William "Bill" (Barbara) Smith of Haines City FL, Cecil (Karen) Smith of Boynton Beach FL & Randy (Linda) Smith of Osceola; her daughter-in-law, Joydean Smith of Elkhart; brother, Edward Lackey of Conway SC; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  Funeral Services 1:00 Thursday March 29. 2018 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy with calling from 11-1 on Thursday. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family's preferred memorial is Great Lakes Hospice.
