Obituary

Fannie M. Newton, 99, of South Bend, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at West Bend Nursing and Rehab Ceneter in South Bend. The Many, Louisiana native was born March 31, 1917 to Elias and Bulah (Lilly) Maxie, who have both preceded her in death. Fannie married Leslie Newton, who preceded her in death. She worked for Ziker Cleaners for over 20 years. Fannie was co-founder of the Jerusalem Church, now the New Jerusalem Church in South Bend. She sang in the choir and made the choice early to dedicate her life to Jesus. Fannie is survived by her nephew Louis Joseph; niece, Marjie Griffith; great nephew, Michael Maxie; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and niece, Tramelle Grensey. In honor of Fannie''s wishes, no services are planned at this time.
