Florence L. Griggs, 86 of Elkhart, died Sunday December 14, 2014 at home. The Limestone County AL native was born July 16, 1928 to Ernest Columbus & Lena Augusta (Knasel) McCormack, both of whom have preceded her in death. Florence was a pastor''s wife, and served as member of the First General Baptist Ladies'' Missionary Society; Head cook at Camp Michiana of the General Baptist Association; member of the Children''s Evangelism Club and taught VBS & Sunday School. Florence was a member of Riverview General Baptist Church, enjoyed reading & cooking, and was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend to everyone. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by husband, Benton Griggs; brothers, George, David & Robert McCormack and sister, Katherine Griggs. Florence is survived by her daughters, Barb (Ken) McCarty and Martha (Jeff) Trigg, both of Elkhart; brother, Charles (Dorothy Jean) McCormack of Pulaski TN; sisters, Dorothy Robison of Elkhart and Velma Campbell of Charleston WV; her grandchildren, Regina (Andy) Yoder of Goshen, Angela (Travis) Dumas of Fishers, Autumn Attkisson of Bristol, Amber (Aracella) Ocegueda of Goshen and Melissa (Jeff) Inman, Kenneth Joseph (Christine) Attkisson, Johnathon (Christina) Attkisson, Christina McCarty, Alexis Wilkins & Alena Wilkins, all of Elkhart; 47 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren with another on the way''. Funeral Services 2:00 Thursday December 18, 2014 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. where friends may call one hour prior to services. Calling also 4-8pm Wednesday in the funeral home.
