Floyd K. "Jim" Carter, 78, of Elkhart went home to be with his Savior and Lord on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. The Trumann, Arkansas native was born on September 5, 1938 to Ruben L. and Versie Mae (Morgan) Carter. On September 22, 1956, Jim married the love of his life, Mary S. "Sue" Barnes, and shared 60 wonderful years together. On January 7, 1957, Jim enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country honorably. Jim was the founder and owner of Carter Tire in Elkhart and was a member of the Church of ACTS in Elkhart. He enjoyed fishing and was a Little League Manager for many years. Everything Jim was involved in; he gave 100% to and dedicated himself to every responsibility. Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue; his children, Floyd K. (Jill) Carter, Jr., Patti (Ed) Piscione, and Jimmy Wayne Carter; five grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Charlsie Pauline "Kitty" Beaver. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Jennifer S. Eller; four brothers and one sister. Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 5-8 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561. A funeral service in Jim''s honor will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 1 PM with calling one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Rev. Michael Wagner will preside over the services with the burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
