Francis W. Geist, 90, of Mishawaka, passed away at 9:28 pm, Monday, December 6, 2010 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Francis was born on February 22, 1920, the son of William L. and Margaret (Cassels) Geist. On November 6, 1940, he married Mary Mazurkiewicz. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary, their two children, Margaret R. and James P. Bernicky of Old Town, FL and Norman R. Geist of South Bend. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Naaman Geist, Rod Bendit, Rachel (Josh) Reed, Norman Geist, Nathan (Carmen) Geist, Jude (Shawna) Geist, Keith (Nancy) Bernicky, Damien Bernicky 10 great grandchildren, Alexa, Isabella, Mica, Eli, Christina, Kyle, Matthew, Jessie, K.P., Norman Geist, III. and 4 great great grandchildren, Jayden, Austin, Marcus, and Kyrsten. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Norman Geist, II, and two great grandchildren, Adam and Nicholas. Francis proudly served his country during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946 from the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for Wheelabrator for 42 years and retired in 1982. He was a member of the V.F.W. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00pm, Thursday, December 9, 2010 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, December 10, 2010 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Rev. Kenneth Mendenhall will officiate.
