Fred C. Christy, 91, of Edwardsburg, passed away Sunday May 22, 2016 at Eastlake Terrace in Elkhart, after suffering from Alzheimer''s disease for several years. Fred was born June 17, 1924 in Apollo, Pennsylvania, the youngest of eleven children born to James Herman & Cora (Schellhammer) Christy. Fred served in the US Army during WWII and on November 1, 1945, he married Leveda Patton (Christy) in Berrien Springs. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2007 after 61 years of marriage. Fred is now reunited with his beloved wife Leveda and with his Lord & Savior, in a place where he will be comfortable for eternity. Fred truly loved his family, but also loved our Lord. Fred was a member of McCoy Memorial Baptist Church in Elkhart; Fred was a motorcycle enthusiast for most of his life; he enjoyed riding his motorcycle with family & friends whenever possible. He also learned to play the harmonica in his childhood and continued to play frequently for most of his life, always carrying one in his pocket. Fred is survived by his children; Herman Christy of Edwardsburg, Carolyn (Doyle) Ramsey of Elkhart and Michael (Marianne) Christy of Edwardsburg; his grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kelley) Christy of Vandalia MI, Jennifer Christy Grimm of North Liberty and Chad (Brandy) Ramsey of Elkhart, along with 6 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services 2:00 Thursday May 26, 2016 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Calling also Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm in the funeral home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family''s preferred memorial is Asera Care Hospice, 700 E.
