Obituary

Frederick L. "Fritz" Griffin, age 78, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Elkhart. Fritz was born September 10, 1932 in Elkhart, Indiana to the late Kenneth and Ruth (Fornash) Griffin. After graduation from Concord High School, Fritz joined the U.S. Army in 1952, serving honorably until his discharge in 1954. On October 25, 1952, Fritz married Beverly Irene Chaffee in Elkhart, Indiana.
Beverly survives, along with their children; Sheryl (Mike) Snell of Joplin, MO, Deb (Rick) Gravender of Elkhart, IN, Diana (Paul) Martz of Guam, and Ken (Shelly) Griffin of Monroe, MI. Fritz is also survived by his sister, Norma Phillips of Florida, seven grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
Friends may call two hours prior to the 7:00 pm memorial service on Friday, November 26, 2010 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, where a Masonic Service will be held. Interment and Military Rites will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 10:00 am.
Fritz was employed by Rainbo Lanes in Elkhart for many years. He loved to bowl, and was the past President of the Elkhart Bowling Association. Fritz also helped start the High School bowling programs in the Elkhart Schools, and coached bowling for many years.
Mr. Griffin was a 50 year member of Kane Masonic Lodge #183 in Elkhart, Indiana, and a 32nd degree Mason in the Scottish Rite. He and his wife also attended Crossroads Church in Elkhart. In his memory, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer''s Association or the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
