Gene Raymond Benn, 80, entered into eternal rest on February 22, 2022. He was born on May 12, 1941 to the late Steven and Evelyn Benn. Gene coached softball for several years and was very passionate about the sport. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan and would never miss one of their athletic games! Gene was a big supporter of local stock car racing and he raced many types of cars himself. He certainly felt the need for speed! Gene proudly served in the Army as a paratrooper.

Gene is survived by his children, Todd Benn and Nicole (Ryan) Smith; step daughter, Michelle (Chris) Reed; granddaughters, Natalie Smith, Riley Smith, and Alayna Reed; brother, Bruce (Patty) Benn; and his beloved dog, Milo.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home,10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN 46561. Burial will be held privately in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Elkhart County. Face masks are required to enter the funeral home.
