Geneva L. Funkhouser, age 88 of South Bend, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013. Geneva was born December 27, 1924 in Pulaski County, IN to the late Albert and Hettie (Evans) Tabler. On Feb. 1, 1942, she married Paul Funkhouser at the Fulton Pilgrim Holiness Church. He preceded her in death, passing away in 1998.
Surviving are her daughters, Paula (Roger Kline) of South Bend, and Deborah Ganshorn of Elkhart. Also surviving is her sister, Mary (David) Thomas of South Bend, and 4 grandchildren; Jeffrey (Vickie) Kline, Jonathan (Linda) Kline, Kim (John) Konopinski, and Christopher Ganshorn. Geneva is survived as well by 10 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughters Cheryl Funkhouser, Kathy Bontrager, and 10 siblings.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 1-6 pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 Monday, April 22, 2013 at Chapel Hill with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Geneva was employed for over 30 years with Elixir Industries in Elkhart. She enjoyed spending time with her family and taking her grandchildren on vacations with her and her husband Paul. She also loved listening to gospel music, and was affiliated for many years with the Pilgrim Holiness Church.
In her memory, donations may be sent to the Center for Hospice.
