George E Brooks, 65, of South Bend, died Thursday December 1, 2011 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was born in Elkhart on January 18, 1946 to George Elias and Gladys I. (Brandon) Brooks. George was a veteran of the US Navy during the Vietnam war. He retired as a Finance & Insurance Specialist for automobile dealerships and also enjoyed his work with a local security company. George enjoyed boating, fishing, travelling and time spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Brooks; daughters, Michele (Jim) Litteral and Rebecca (Gery) Mullins, both of Mishawaka and Kristy Brooks, BS,RVT of Salem; step-son, Cory M. Fortson of Mishawaka; sisters, Mary (Tom) Boyland in California, Patricia (John) Simpson of Cassopolis and Sandra Shaffer of Bristol; grandchildren, Jazmin Terhorst, Dustin Foulks, Aren Terhorst, Sarah Mullins, Dalton Teitsma, Zachary Mullins, Donovan Litteral, Mekah Litteral, Anika Litteral, Rylee Mullins and his great-grandaughter, Gracie Lynne. He was preceded in death by his parents, and also his daughter, Angela M. Brooks and sisters, Betty Lester, Irene Bontrager and Joyce Waite. Funeral Services 2:00 Sunday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, with calling one hour prior to services. Calling also from 5-7pm Saturday in the funeral home. Graveside Committal Service 10:00 Monday in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors.
