George Neil McMeekan, 80, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, was welcomed into heaven by his
Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 17, 2022. George was born on February 27, 1942 in
Elkhart, IN to George Abel McMeekan and Margaret Elizabeth (Lynch) McMeekan.
He was a graduate of Elkhart High School in 1960, serving as Vice President of his class, and also
won an Indiana State Title in tennis. He graduated from Valparaiso University in 1964, being a
member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, and playing tennis for the University as well. He joined his
father at Faries-McMeekan, Inc. in 1964, helping grow the business. In 1980 he started Ferret,
Inc. to supply Faries-McMeekan, Inc. He was involved in the startup or acquisition of many
other companies. He moved to Palm Beach Gardens in 1995.
George is survived by his brother, Thomas (Sally) McMeekan, and step-sister, Jan Bechtel, as well as a step-brother, Jim (Mary) Tuthill. Also
former wife, Mary Jay Yoder, and their children Scott Alan (Karen) McMeekan and Kathleen Jay
Deuel. He is also survived by his former wife Lynnette McMeekan, and their daughter Kristi
Lynette (Jay) Mohamed. He lived the last 16 years of his life with his loving girlfriend, Jennifer
Bianchini.
He is also survived by his grandchildren Elizabeth (Ben) Mattingly, Rebecca (Alex) Altenhoff,
Thomas McMeekan, Grace Deuel, Ella Mohamed, Jillian Mohamed, Henry Deuel, and Addison
Mohamed and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son-in-law, Marc J. Deuel.
George loved to anonymously help people during his life. He also generously gave to each of
the churches he was a member of. The past 16 years he was a beloved member of Tropical
Sands Christian Church, and he thought highly of Pastor Chris.
He was very gracious as an employer, and loved the team members who worked for him, and
they appreciated him as well.
He was an avid golfer, being a member at Knollwood Country Club, Bent Oak Country Club, Four
Lakes Country Club, Elcona Country Club and most recently BallenIsles Country Club. He played
in several tournaments over the years, but one of his proudest moments was making the
national Oldsmobile Classic played in Orlando.
George loved living life to the fullest. As an example, he and two of his closest friends
participated in the 1972 Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash, a race
from New York City to Redondo Beach, CA with no rules. It became widely known as The
Cannonball Run, and numerous movies were made about it.
George will be remembered as one of the most kind and generous people to everyone he met.
There will be a Memorial Service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 30888 County Road 6, Elkhart, IN
to celebrate his life on December 1, 2022, with a time of visitation from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm,
with a service to follow at 12:00 pm.
