George H. Perry, age 78, of Wakarusa, Indiana passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013. George was born January 29, 1935 in Baldknob, West Virginia to the late Frank and Ruby (Workman) Perry. On October 4, 1958, he married Joyce (Rucker) Perry in Belle, West Virginia. She preceded him in death, passing away February 7, 2004.
Surviving are his children, Curtis A. (Linda) Perry of Elkhart, IN, Thomas (Lenita Jo) Perry of Flatwoods, KY, Rhonda (Dennis) Potucek of Elkhart, IN, Tammy (Edward) Zimmerman of Wakarusa, IN, and Raymond Perry of Huntington, WV. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, and his siblings, Fonzo (Lorraine) Perry of S. Carolina and Lew (Janice) Perry of Tacoma, WA. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Clarence Perry and Helen Kate Vance.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Friday, March 22, 2013 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Kelly presiding. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
George was employed for many years as a machine operator for Elkhart Products until his retirement in 1997. He was a longtime member of the IAM Local # 1315. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking in his garage, working on cars, and spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. George was also actively involved with his grandchildren, and attended Word of Truth Ministries in Milford, Indiana.
In his memory, donations may be made to Southern Care Hospice or the United Cancer Services of Elkhart.
