George Underwood, 74, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Sunday August 20, 2023 at home.  He was born on August 6, 1949 in Chatfield, Arkansas to Thomas A. and Audrey (Allgood) Underwood.

He is survived by his son, Jeremy Underwood; 2 daughters, Dyonna (Devon) Bryant and Christina (Jason) Lewis; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Mark (Darlene) Underwood and Robert Underwood; and 3 sisters: Dena (David) Rogers, Dorothy Underwood and Martha Stites.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and a sister.

George served his country in the U.S. Army, having done 2 tours in Vietnam.  He was a member of the Osceola VFW Post #360.  He enjoyed playing poker and chess.  He also liked to play puzzle video games.  He liked to go fishing, especially on the Frank Zappia Bridge.

Friends may visit with the family from 10-1 PM Friday at the funeral home.

A Funeral Service in his honor will be on Friday August 25, 2023 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home  10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN 46561.  Pastor Justin Moore will officiate.  Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
