Gilbert L. Martin

Gilbert (Gil) L. Martin, 69 of Osceola passed away on November 6, 2022 in Goshen Hospital. He was born in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Leon & Marilyn (Bartlett) Martin.

His wife, Marie G. Alvarez survives to remember a life of more than 35 years together. He is also survived by son, Justin Martin, daughter, Angelina Mowery, grandchildren, two sisters, Cynthia Vaught (John), Gloria Gouldman (David), sister Michelle Brown predeceased him.

He will also be missed by his in-laws Rose Alvarez Criswell (Bruce), Joe Alvarez (Jan), Michael Alvarez (Diana), Jane Duncan (Virel) and family who were all very close to him. Gil graduated from Clay High School in South Bend in 1971. In September of 1971 he entered the Air Force, he then served in the United States Navy to complete a military career of over 20 years, retiring in 1996.

Gil then completed his Bachelor degree and also earned his MBA. He was an adjunct Professor and assistant director at the South Bend branch of Trine University. Gil was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church of which he was a very active member, including a Knights of Columbus (4 th degree). He was also a member of the VFW Post #360 in Osceola.

A mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday 11/15/2022 10:30am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Rd, Mishawaka, IN 46544. Visitation will begin at 9:30 in the church prior to Mass service. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
