ELKHART, Ind. - Gladys Louise (Jensen) de Fluiter, 83, of Elkhart, died Saturday, Oct. 10, at Elkhart General Hospital.She was born April 25, 1932 in Tomah, Wisconsin to Bernard and Ella Jensen. She married David Clark de Fluiter September of 1954. He preceded her in death August 2001.Surviving are sons, Daniel D.(Melissa) de Fluiter of Mishawaka, IN and Richard L.(Valerie) de Fluiter of Farwell, MI; daughter Jane L. (Kevin) O''Reilley of Mishawaka; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; brother Herbert Jensen of Columbus, WI; and nine nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents and husband. Gladys was a Registered Nurse and dearly loved her time serving the patients of Elkhart General Hospital. A member of Elkhart and South Bend Seventh-day Adventist church she served in several capacities as elder and Sabbath School teacher. She was a graduate of Bethel Academy in WI and graduated from Emmanuel Missionary College in Berrien Springs, MI with her nursing degree. She enjoyed taking photographs, reading, traveling, and cooking. A gathering of friends and family will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola, IN 46561 where a funeral service will be at 10:00 am Thursday, Oct. 15. Pastor Mickey Nickless will officiate. Internment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the charity of donor''s choice in her name.
