Gladys Marie Rorie, 88 of Mishawaka, died at 9:45 am, Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in Sprenger Healthcare of Mishawaka. Marie was born on September 1, 1926, the daughter of the late William and Ona (Glass) Hollihan. On October 19, 1940, she married Tinnie E. Rorie. He died on March 1, 2007. Marie is survived by two daughters, Patsy (Ronnie) Langwell of Osceola and Pam (Marv) Duerksen of Mishawaka; six grandchildren, Debbie (Kevin) Nagle, Kenneth (Stacy) Langwell, Michael Langwell, Eric (Stacy) Duerksen, Christy (Mike) Singleton, and Lisa Duerksen; 11 great grandchildren, Brooke, Adam, Zach, Zoey, Colton, Addison, Hunter, Cassidy, Hannah, Reid, and Rowan, and two great-great grandchildren, Cayden and Kegan. She is also survived by three siblings, Donal Lee Hollihan of Canyon Lake, CA, Seldon Hollihan of Michigan City, IN and Shirley Pfefferle of Mishawaka. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, Helen Moen, Irmagene Bunch, and Carolyn Tramell and two brothers, Raymond and William Hollihan. Marie worked as a grocery clerk and later as an office manager for Martins Grocery Stores in Elkhart. She loved working in her vegetable and flower gardens in the summer and sewing in the winters. She retired from Martins and was then able to enjoy her sewing and gardening even more. More than caring for her flowers, Marie loved her family and would do anything for them. She also had another pastime she loved greatly, and that was spending time with her grandchildren. She was always a wonderful caregiver. She cared for her mother and sister, Shirley. She was also a loving sister and kept in touch regularly with her family across the country. She was beloved "Aunt Marie'' to many nieces and nephews. She spent many hours caring for Tinnie until he went to Heaven in 2007, and now she must be thrilled to have no more cares but be able to bask in perfect health with a clear mind and spend time with Jesus and all those loved ones whose were waiting for her in Heaven. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm, Friday, December 19, 2014 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, December 20, 2014 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Rev. Jack Rorie will officiate.
