Glen D. Shafer, 97 of Elkhart, died Thursday May 7, 2015 at home. The Macy IN native was born April 17, 2015 to Lewis W. & Myrl (Lambert) Shafer. Glen was a US Navy veteran and a retired machinist. Glen was known as a good neighbor; he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed staying active; he pitched horseshoes and bowled. In addition to his parents, Glen was also preceded in death by his wife, Veda Shafer; grandson, Ernest Pomeroy and 6 brothers & sisters; also by Mary Anna Shafer, to whom he was formerly married. He is survived by his daughters, Marlene (Johnny) Baldwin of Barryville AR, Dawn (John) Johnson of Joshua Tree CA, Sandra (Erick) Bong of Shady Cove OR; step-daughter, Linda Hunt of Buena Park CA; grandchildren, Tim (Lisa) Chetelat of San Jose CA, Mary Waters of La Habra CA, Sara Johnson of Joshua Tree CA, Weston (Teresa) Owens of Green Forest AR, Marlett (Jeff) McKinney of Barryville AR, Lorene (Randy) Jensen of Yucca Valley CA, James E. Hunt of Huntington Beach CA and Richard A. Hunt of Pineville OR; fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and his sister, Martha Hopkins in Michigan. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 Saturday, May 16, 2015 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Friends may call from 1-2pm in the funeral home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
