Gordon Richard Menzie, 85, of Mishawaka passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011 in his home. Gordon was born on May 20, 1926 in Pierceton, IN, the son of the Garland and Lucy (McDonald) Menzie.
Gordon is survived by three daughters, Jacqueline (Bryan) Cavitt of Elkhart, Kathy Fulkerson of Mishawaka, and Cynthia (Dan) Kemp of Mishawaka, seven grandchildren, Jordan, Cody, Michael, Adam, Arik, Kelly, and Kaysa, as well as eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by sister, Helen Althoff of Mishawaka and a brother, Cloyce (Patsy) Menzie of Pierceton, IN. He is preceded in death by his parents, step father, Ernest Walgamuth, his wife of 20 years, Doris K. Menzie and brother, Marlin Menzie.
Gordon proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army, Company A, 1st Tank Battalion. He became honorably discharged in 1946. He was a member of the Cedar Road Missionary Church, Osceola. He loved his family and cherished the time spent with them.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola with full military honors.
