Obituary

Grace J. Augustine, age 97, of Bourbon, Indiana, passed away on January 10, 2016 at 11:00 PM at Wampler''s Senior Home in Bourbon, Indiana. Grace was born the daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth (Dobronyi) Nyitray on June 20, 1918 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She lived in South Bend, IN and upon her marriage to Paul I. Augustine on August 23, 1947, moved to Bourbon. Paul died on September 20, 2005. Grace is survived by a sister-in-law, Marie Nyitray of Holland, Michigan and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Grace in death were four sisters: Bernice Korpas, Ethel VanStelle Kolo, Erma Nyitray, and Elizabeth Isza; and three brothers, William Nyitray, Stephen Nyitray, and Reverend John Nyitray. Grace was a homemaker and a member of the Bourbon First United Methodist Church. She had many interests. In her younger years she tap danced, played the accordion, and the organ. She always enjoyed playing cards, attending music jam sessions, dancing, singing, and dining with family and friends. Grace regularly attended activities at the Matchett Senior Center. She kept many friends in her circle from youngsters to those of her age. She never had any children of her own, but kept nieces and nephews tucked under her wings. Grace''s family wishes to thank Rebecca Wampler and her staff for the excellent care given to Grace during her illness. Also, the family would like to thank Dr. Chester L. Rogers and the many neighbors and friends for their many visits and friendship. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 1-2 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561-9157. A funeral service in Grace''s honor will be held Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 2 PM with Reverend David Cripe officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Wampler''s Senior Home/Scholarships, 305 East North Street, Bourbon, IN 46504, Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545, or Bourbon First United Methodist Church, 204 North Washington, Bourbon, IN 46504.
