Harold F. Burks, 96, of Mishawaka, formerly of Osceola, died at 4:20 pm, Wednesday, January 14, 2015 in North Woods Village Memory Care of Mishawaka. Harold was born on August 15, 1918 in Rockville, IN to the late Ed and Maude (Miller) Burks. On December 31, 1938, he married Maxine Ferrell. She died on October 15, 2006. Harold is survived by two children, Judy (Darryl) Searer of Niles, MI and Roger (Charlotte) Burks of Osceola. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Kurt Searer, Mindy O''Conner, Jennifer Szklarek, Chad Burks, Todd Burks, and Matt Burks; 12 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Harold graduated from Frankfort High School, class of 1938. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for the former Uniroyal for 42 years before his retirement in 1981. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm, Friday, January 16, 2015 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 17, 2015 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors.
