Harold E. "Butch" Dawson, 67, of Niles, died Saturday August 22, 2015 at St. Joseph Medical Center. The South Bend native was born August 15, 1948 and he married Peggy Rowe on January 27, 1967 in Niles. Butch had retired as a maintenance supervisor at Sampco in South Bend. He was a pitcher and softball player for over 30 years, and also enjoyed hunting & fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold & Ruby Jones and his son, Harold "Butch" Dawson. Butch is survived by Peggy Dawson, his wife of 48 years; his sons, Jeff (Sayward) Dawson of Niles and Greg (Marlo) Dawson of Edwardsburg; his grandchildren, Nicole Dawson of Niles, Cody Dawson of Elkhart, Surrenda Dawson, Rayne Dawson and Kaydance Dawson, all of Edwardsburg and Jersie Dawson of Niles; brothers, Dwight (Peggy) Jones and Lanty (Colleen) Jones, both of Mishawaka; sisters Jeorgianne Brown and Caroline Cornwall, both of South Bend , Jean Hanshire of Mishawaka and Barbara (Randy) Hill in Wisconsin. Memorial Service 4:00 Friday, August 28, 2015 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Friends may call prior to services, from 2-4pm in the funeral home.
