Harold R. Cox, 91, formerly of South Bend, passed away at 8:37 a.m. Thursday, March 19th at his home, in North Richland Hills, TX after an extended illness. Harold was born on February 15, 1918, in Bourbon and resided in South Bend for most of his life. On September 4, 1939, in Warsaw, he married the former, Marie E. Schori who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Sandra K. Chonody (Andrew), North Richland Hills, TX, and two sons, David N. Cox (Sue) of Apalachicola, FL and Nathan L. Cox (Melanie), of Knoxville, TN, and former daughter-in-law, Helen Richards Cox. Also eleven grandchildren whom he loved and was loved by; Todd Chonody (Danielle), Timothy Chonody, Teresa Sexton (Roger), Tonia Coleman (Robert), Ted Cox, Thomas Cox, Dexter Cox (Amy), Ryan Cox, and Ashley Cox, Erin Stewart (Scotty), Jason Wells (Tania) as well as ten great grandchildren: Andrew Chonody, Lindsey Chonody, Samantha Sexton, Steven Sexton, Alaina Cox, Addison Cox, Christine Coleman, Caitlin Coleman, Tori Cox, and William Wells. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Millard Cox and Iris Grosvenor, and by a sister; Marjorie Schori
His favorite statement to his family was that he was going to love them forever and he believed he could do it. He worked at several Tool & Die shops, and served for over twenty years at South Bend Tool & Die. He was a beloved elder at the Apostolic Temple Church in South Bend for fifty five years. He was a 1936 graduate of Bourbon High School.
