Obituary

Harold J. Fields, 87, of Goshen, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010 in Lutheran Hospital of Ft. Wayne. Harold was born on May 18, 1922 and was a lifelong resident of Goshen. He married Donna Koch on October 2, 1942, shortly before being drafted into the Army. He was honorably discharged from the military after a service injury.
Harold was a member of the United Church of Christ for over 70 years, a life member of the D.A.V., a life member of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion, V.F.W. and Amvets. He also held memberships in the Kentucky Colonels and the Scottish Rite. He was the State Commander of the D.A.V. from 1975-1976, he then became the State Adjutant for the D.A.V. from 1979-1989. Among his many awards, he was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash Award in 1976.
Harold is survived by his wife, Donna Fields of Goshen, children, Robert (Sonya) Fields and John (Ella) Fields, both of Goshen, Rhonda Paul of Lexington, KY, Ruth Fields of Phoenix, AZ and Jeanie Paul of Chandler, AZ, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Raymond (Ethel) Fields of Holland, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Florence Fields, daughter, Pegge Hale and a great grandson.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Monday, March 22, 2010 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola with a Masonic Service to be held at 7:30 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, March 23, 2010 in the funeral home with Rev. David Sickelka officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
