Harold A. Loudermilk, age 84, of Elkhart, passed away at his home on Monday, April 16, 2012. Harold was born August 26, 1927 in Clentonville, West Virginia to the late Greene and Sarah J. (Mullins) Loudermilk. On October 7, 1957, he married the former Ms. Peggy A. Caldwell in West Virginia.
Peggy survives, along with their daughters, Tonia (John) Hoover and Meredith (Steve) Eells, both of Elkhart. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Alexis and Faith Eells, and his siblings, Tom Martin, Roy Martin, Brenda Davis, Lisa Wilson, Carol Miley and Joyce Lafferty. Preceding him in death were his sisters, Helen Douglas, Zenna Goldman, and Reedy Coakley and his brother, Larry "Milt" Martin.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 &6-8 pm Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Rev. Rick Pirtle will officiate the 2:00 pm funeral service on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, and interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Harold graduated from High School in May of 1954, and then moved to the Elkhart area in 1957. He was employed for many years in the Mobile Home Manufacturing business before retirement, and then worked in Security for Tri-State Security Company. He enjoyed photography, and was a photographer for the Elkhart Truth in his younger years. Harold enjoyed the Opera and listening to music, setting up electronics, and following politics. Harold was a full time "student of life" who continued to learn throughout his lifetime.
