Obituary

Harriett D. Lee, age 92 of North Liberty, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, following a brief illness. Harriett was born February 15, 1920 in Balmville, New York to the late Arnold and Louise (Plumstead) Deyo. She served her country in the US Army during WWII, before her honorable discharge in 1944. She met her husband, Dewayne Lee Sr. while serving in the Army, and they were married August 8, 1944. Dewayne Sr. preceded her in death, passing away in 2005.

Surviving are her children, Dewayne F. (Vicki) Lee Jr. of South Bend, Sandra Lee of North Liberty, Indiana, Donna (Roland) Irvin of Pennsylvania, and Marsha (Harold) Odom of Sulphur Rock, Arkansas. Also surviving are her brothers, Chancey Deyo of Newburgh, New York and Roger (Betty) Deyo of Alabama. Harriett is also survived by her grandchildren, Phillip, Dawn, Michelle, Terri, Jerri and Shannon, and her great grandchildren, Brady, Alexis, Michael, Allison, A.J., Conner, and Shelby. She was preceded in death by her siblings Arnold Deyo, Kenneth Scott, Marion Owen, Edith Redner, Alberta Colvin, Jean Jackson, and Bernice Deyo.

Services will be private.

Harriett was a homemaker. She enjoyed bowling in leagues for many years, and working jigsaw puzzles. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Post #365 in North Liberty and the Michiana Tidal Waves, a group for former servicewomen in the area.

In her memory, donations may be given to the North Liberty United Methodist Church, of which she was a member.
