Harry James Melser, 83, of South Bend, passed away at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, April 28, 2010 in his home. He was born on July 23, 1926 in South Bend to the late Floyd and Helen (Erickson) Melser. On October 10, 1947, he married Joan Cox.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan and son, Randy (Judy) Melser of South Bend; one grandson, Christopher Melser. He is also survived by three brothers, Richard Melser of Mishawaka, Floyd Melser of Charlotte, MI and John (Bea) Melser of South Bend. He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Ricky Melser.
Harry proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy, before being discharged in 1946. He worked for School City of South Bend in the Maintenance Department for many years before his retirement. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 360.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm, Monday, May 3, 2010 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 4, 2010 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Funeral Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
