Hazel Elizabeth Slagle, 61, of Elkhart, passed away at 7:00 pm, Monday, August 29, 2011 in her home surrounded by family. Hazel was born on November 22, 1949 in Niles, the daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth (Ryan) Aichele. On April 17, 1982, she married Ronald Slagle.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald of Elkhart; seven children, Ruth Howell of Elkhart, Ronald (Jamie) Slagle, Jr. of Union, MI, Michael (Rose) Slagle of Elkhart, Jeff (Tina) Roberts of Bristol, IN, Tammy (Shannon) Conley of South Bend, Cheryl Scherer of Elkhart and Debbie (Bruce) Carpenter of Elkhart, 20 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Fred (Sherry) Aichele of Lakeville, IN, two sisters, Janet Rogers of Sturgis, MI and Beverly Ankney of Mishawaka, IN and two half sisters, Donna and Shirley, both of Oregon. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Aichele and Roberts Hawks.
Hazel worked as a Deputy in the St. Joseph County Jail. She loved her job and retired in 2009. She also loved to travel and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 3, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Pastor Jody Healy will officiate.
