Helen S. Beelby, age 78, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Friday, January 14, 2011 at Hospice House in South Bend of natural causes. Helen was born October 24, 1932 in Detroit Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reed and Margaret (Sleeth) Hewitt, and her brother, Richard Hewitt. Mrs. Beelby was a graduate of Lansing Eastern High School, class of 1950. On December 13, 1952, Helen married Ronald Beelby in Lansing Michigan. Their love lasted over 58 years.
Her loving husband Ron of South Bend survives, along with their son, Mark Beelby and his wife Barbara of South Bend. Helen is also survived by her grandchildren; Chris Beelby and his wife Elizabeth, Michelle Loftus and her husband Chris, and Andrew Beelby and his girlfriend Claire Rogers. Also surviving are four great grandchildren; Isaac and Ethan Beelby, and Aiden and Taylor Loftus. Helen is survived as well by her brother Doug Hewitt and his wife Lorraine of Sarasota, Florida and her sister in law Jeanette Hewitt of Punta Gorda, Florida.
There will be one hour of calling prior to the 2:30 pm Memorial Service on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana. Entombment will be held in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Indiana.
Helen was employed for many years as a business owner, along with her husband Ron, at Ronnie''s Dairy King (across from Adams High School) and Circle Camera in Mishawaka. She was very family oriented and enjoyed family get togethers and vacations with her husband, son, and grandchildren in Mexico and on Sailboat Cruises.
In her memory, donations may be given to Pet Refuge in Mishawaka, where she used to volunteer, or the Second Wind support group through Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
