Helen Rose Harker, age 91, passed away Feb. 11, 2012 in Saginaw, Michigan. Helen was formerly of Bristol, Indiana. She was born February 16, 1920 in Elkhart, IN to the late Clinton and Marie (Livengood) Strawser. After graduating from Concord High School in 1938, she was employed for over 44 years at Miles Laboratory in Elkhart before her retirement, where she was a member of the "Quarter Century" club.
Surviving is her sister, Thelma Bostwick of Elkhart. Although she had no children of her own, Helen was a second mother to 2 nieces; Joy Miller of Elkhart, and Diane (Phil) Creps of Saginaw, MI, and 2 nephews, LaMar (Patricia) Bostwick of Elkhart and Douglas (Teri) Bostwick of Seymour, MO. Also surviving are 5 great nephews, 3 great nieces, 6 great-great-nephews, 5 great-great-nieces, and 1 great-great-great niece.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola.
In her younger days, Helen bowled in the Miles Laboratory League, loved listening to music and dancing, and caring for animals. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time at the beaches in Florida, and at her home on the river in Bristol. She had also attended the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Elkhart.
In her memory, contributions may be made to the Bethel Assembly of God Church, or the Elkhart Humane Society.
