Helen Louise Murray, age 88, of Mishawaka, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Darden Place Group Home at 11:38 am. Helen was born June 12, 1923 to the late Kenneth and Gertrude (Summerlott) Kiefer in Elkhart, Indiana. She graduated from Elkhart High School, and on August 23, 1941, she married Lawrence Murray. He preceded her in death, passing away in 2001.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann (Thomas) Meilstrup of Mishawaka, and 2 grandsons, Matthew (Mary Jo) Meilstrup of Cocoa Beach Florida and Mitchell (Amy) Meilstrup of Blaine Minnesota. Also surviving are 5 great-grandchildren; Christopher, Sydney, Zachary, Abby and Leah. Surviving as well is her sister, Erma Sechrist of the Villages, Florida, and her brother Raymond (Peg) Kiefer of Elkhart, Indiana. Preceding her in death was her brother, Kenneth Kiefer and his wife Elsie and her brother in law, Carl Sechrist.
Per Helen''s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation. A private family service will take place at a later time. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Helen was employed during WWII at the Boeing Factory in Seattle, Washington, and after the war, in production at Whitehall Laboratories in Elkhart until her retirement.
Her family wishes to give special thanks to Paul and the staff of Darden Place, South Bend, for their care and love given during Helen''s stay with them. We are eternally grateful.
