Helen B. Rivet, 81, of Elkhart, died Tuesday December 27, 2016. The Manitowoc, WI native was born August 13, 1935 to Otto & Clara (Wentz) Laack. On June 20, 1955, Helen married Howard J. Rivet in Elizabeth City, NC. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1994 after 38 years of marriage. Helen retired from Elkhart General Hospital and was a member of Crossroads Community Church; she was an avid sports fans and particularly enjoyed Notre Dame, the Cubs and the Vikings. Helen enjoyed spending time with family & friends and was known to try her luck on occasional visits to the casinos. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was also preceded in death by her daughter, Michele Stewart and also by her 2 brothers. She is survived by her children, Sherry Kelly, Renee Rivet Kern & Stanley J. (Shawn) Rivet, all of Elkhart and Michael J. Rivet Sr. of Goshen; her sister, Delores Waack of Sheboygan WI; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Funeral Services 10:00 Wednesday January 4, 2017 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Friends may call Tuesday 4-8pm in the funeral home. Interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
