Obituary

Helen Gertrude Sharp, 90, of South Bend, passed away at 7:35 am, Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in her home surrounded by family. Helen was born on April 1, 1921 in North Liberty, IN, the daughter of the late Alonzo "George" and Vinnie (Carden) Brantley. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Spence, who passed in 1968, second husband, Felix Mroz, who passed in 1988 and her third husband, William Sharp, who passed in 2010. She is also preceded in death by a grandson and two brothers, Wayne and Richard Brantley.
Helen is survived by three daughters, Marlene (Richard) Hofferth of Hammond, Janet (Rev. Larry) Sonnenberg of South Bend, and Kathy (Gary) Sonnenberg of South Bend, and one son, Ronald (Joan) Spence of LaPorte. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm (EST), Thursday, October 20, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am (EST), Friday, October 21, 2011 in the funeral home with Rev. Larry Sonnenberg officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton, IN.
Helen was the former owner/operator of the Mayflower Motel. She also worked for American Rubber and Schaffer''s Laundry. She will be remembered for her love of reading, crocheting and traveling. The family would like to thank Hospice and all her caregivers for their loving care.
