Herman W. "Bud" Hartke, 87, of Mishawaka, died Tuesday October 26, 2010 at Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa. The South Bend native served in the US Army during WWII in the South Pacific, and married Joan N. Freed on August 2, 1946. She preceeded him in death in 2003, after 56 years of marriage. Bud had served on the Wakarusa and Nappanee Police Depts. for over 25 years, and retired from the Security Dept. at Bendix. He is survived by his son, Nile Hartke of Clermont, FL. Private entombment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway handled the arrangements.
