Huey L. Groning, 76, of South Bend, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 in Hospice House of Elkhart County. Huey was born on July 11, 1935 in Lafe, Ark, the son of the late Joe and Lillian (Burnes) Groning. On May 24, 1954, he married Sue Cullen in Mississippi.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue of South Bend, three sons, Ronald (Jean) Groning of Mishawaka, Dennis (Melinda) Groning of Mishawaka and Richard (Carol) Groning of North Webster, IN; daughter in law, Annette Groning of Nappannee; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Sheffield of Jacksonville, Ark. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Joe Lynn Groning and brother, Hubert Groning.
Huey was an Electrician for Uniroyal for 36+ years before his retirement in 1990. He played on the Uniroyal Men''s Fast pitch Softball league for the Shamrock Caf for many years. He loved to fishing and hunting and coached Little League for over 20 years.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-6:00 pm, Sunday, October 30, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, October 31, 2011 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
