She was preceded in death by her father Bong Oh Kim and two brothers, Hyun Keun and Yong Keun.
Grandma Kim, as she was lovingly called by many, was a refugee during the Korean Conflict escorting her 5 younger brothers (ages 12 - 2 yrs) from the North to the South in 1950. She graduated from Kyung Nam Girls High School in Pusan, Korea and Han Kook Education College in Seoul with a degree in pre-school education. In 1963, she immigrated with her husband and children to the United States, ultimately settling in Elkhart, where she resided for over 45 years. With her devout faith as her guide, she lived and worked fearlessly and tirelessly to spread goodwill and understanding in the community. She served many years as a volunteer at the Salvation Army, East Lake Nursing Home, and His Helping Hand of Zion Missionary Church.

In 1977, she was one of the pioneers in forming the Michiana Korean Church where she served as a Senior Deacon until her death. As part of the Church's outreach, her mission was to assist and guide the settlement of Korean newcomers in the area. Her quick smile and helping hand will be missed by all who knew her.
