Ida Marie Gwilt, age 76, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away July 13, 2009 in her residence of natural causes. Ida was born October 9, 1932 in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late William Thomas and Hazel (Welter) DeGraff. On May 1, 1948, Ida was united in marriage to Clifford "Red" Gwilt in South Bend, Indiana. Clifford preceded her in death, passing away in April of 2004.
Surviving is her sister, Juanita Hunt of Osceola, a son-in law, Raymond Schaller of Mishawaka, and two grandchildren; Linda Alwine-Smith and Tina (Dan) Gwilt-Turnock. Surviving as well are three great grandchildren, Jolee Gwilt, Diana Myers and Preston Szalewski. Ida was preceded in death by her daughter Diana Schaller, her brothers, Frank and Thomas DeGraff, and her sister Phyllis DeGraff.
Visitation will be held from 11am-1 pm Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana. Funeral services for Ida will be conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Ida was employed as a group leader at Nyloncraft in Mishawaka for many years, and retired after 32 years of employment. She enjoyed playing BINGO, fishing, and visiting the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City.
