Ingeburg Z. Popescu, age 86, of Osceola, passed away at her residence on January 11, 2010. She was born April 27, 1923 in Schopppingen, East Germany to the late Bruno and Dorothea (Ciasto) Gottberg. After immigrating to the United States in 1951, she was united in marriage to the Mircea Popescu in December of 1953. Her husband preceded her in death, passing away October 31, 1983.
Surviving is her daughter Karin (Mike) Gerald of Elkhart, and her brother Ernst (Waltraud) Gottberg. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren; Jennifer Boggess, Joshua Holston, Jason Holston, and Ira Holston, along with one great grandson, Jacob Boggess. Ingeburg was preceded in death by her sister, Ursula Pasieka.
Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the 2:00 pm funeral service on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, Indiana.
Ingeburg was a proud of her U.S. Citizenship, which she obtained in 1959. She was employed as a seamstress for many years by Robinson''s Department Store in South Bend, and also at a local Bridal Shop. Mrs. Popescu was also very involved with her grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with them.
