Iris I. Stephens, 84, of Osceola, passed away Monday September 4, 2017 at Morningside Care Center. The Elkhart native was born July 5, 1933 to James I. & Mary (Kocsis) Watson. She graduated from Jimtown High School with the Class of ''51 and on August 27, 1960 married Terrence Stephens in Osceola Methodist Church. Iris was the owner-operator of Stephens Auto/Speed & Custom in Osceola as well as becoming the nation''s top seller for American Home Toy. She was a founding member of Mishawaka Grace Brethren Church and remained very active there; she led the junior church and was instrumental in leading many to Christ. Also active in the Osceola Little League and Den Mother for the Cub Scouts for many years, she was a former president of the P.T.A. at Osceola-Moran Schools, and served as a room mother for almost 20 years. She even obtained her Realtors License at age 65, with a perfect score on the very challenging board exam. Iris was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kirk G. Stephens; brother, James I. "Bub" Watson, Jr. and sister, Carol Watson. She is survived by Terry "Sid" Stephens, her husband of 57 years and her children, Robert (Linda) Stephens of Mishawaka, Terry (Shelly Wood) Stephens of Wakarusa, Cindy (Rebecca Lanning) Stephens of South Bend, Chris (Cathy) Stephens of Osceola and Rhonda (Dennis) Draves of Southport FL; sisters, Fawnteen Chaffee and Waneta Dressler, both of White Pigeon MI; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their sincere and heartfelt thanks to the staff at Morningside Memory Care Center and Southern Care Hospice, for the care and kindness that Iris and her family always received. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 Friday September 8, 2017 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. where friends may call one hour prior to services.
