Jack D. Grzeskowiak, age 68 of Osceola, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 23, 2014 at his home. He graduated from Penn High School in 1963, and on May 14, 1966, he married Marcella (DeLater) Grzeskowiak in Mishawaka, Indiana. They celebrated 47 years of marriage.
Marcella survives, along with their children, David (Christine) Grzeskowiak of Lawton, Michigan and Sara (Brian) Bell of Mishawaka. Jack is survived as well by his siblings, Linda (Jim) Matson and Ronald Grzeskowiak, both of Mishawaka. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Grzeskowiak.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm, and interment will be at a later date.
Jack was employed in the maintenance department at American Home Products/Whitehall Laboratories, and later, Associates before his retirement. After his retirement, he worked a few days a week delivering parts for NAPA in Mishawaka. He enjoyed fishing, and was a former member of the Michiana Walleye Association, loved watching NASCAR, and Notre Dame, Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons football. Jack also loved watching the Sci-Fi channel, and shared his love of astronomy with his grandchildren, taking them often to the Planetarium.
Jack''s true love was for his family and his grandchildren. He was always eager to share in their accomplishments and bragged often about their sports achievements. Jack was always quick to share a picture of them with others, and when his grandchildren participated in baseball and softball at Osceola Penn Park, he worked as a groundskeeper, paying particular attention to the fields on which his grandkids played.
In his memory, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
