Jack Lee Pickrell, 66, of Elkhart, passed away at 3:35 am, Thursday June 25, 2009 in Hospice House of Elkhart after a battle with cancer. Jack was born on August 10, 1942 in Ottumwa, IA to the late Orville and Freda (Ancell) Pickrell. On February 11, 1967 in Quincy, IL, he married Janice Kellum.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice, six children, Cindy (Mark) Prater of South Bend, Daniel Ballinger of South Bend, Kevin Ballinger of South Bend, Bruce (April) Ballinger of South Bend, Robert (Elizabeth) Pickrell of Jacksonville, FL, and Julie (Charles) Sellenberg of South Bend, six grandchildren, Heath, Jason, Michael, Matthew, Christopher, and Ryan, and three great grandchildren, Aaron, Alexandra, and Myra. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Spacek of Scottsdale, AZ. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Beverly Jean Hartley and Genevieve Butler.
Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He was honorably discharged after serving for six years in 1968. He worked at Allied Products and EWI for 31 years and Faurecia for 10 years. He was a member of Timberland Bible Church.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am-12:00 pm, Tuesday, June 30, 2009 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Tuesday in the funeral home with Rev. John Railton officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola
