Jack L. Yarbrough, 76, of Granger, died Sunday May 6, 2018 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. The South Bend native was born October 29, 1941 to (the late) Robert H. & Sabra (Smith) Yarbrough. He graduated from Riley High School with the Class of '60 and on January 19, 1963 Jack married June P. (Bogunia) Yarbrough in St. Casimir Catholic Church. June survives him after 55 years of marriage. Jack retired in 2002 from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 38 years of service and was the 'unofficial' secretary for the Railroad retiree luncheons. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and was a 4 th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus-Fr. Stephen T. Badin Council 4263. Jack also volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Society and was a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge #599 and the Michiana Classic Chevy Club. Jack loved cars and his garage; he enjoyed attending classic car shows and he often won trophies. He also had a love of airplanes and never passed up an opportunity to go flying with friends. Devoted to his family & friends, Jack was known to always have a smile and a positive outlook. He also enjoyed travelling and cruises, following NASCAR, riding his Harley and attending Notre Dame Women's Basketball games with his good friend, Joe. In addition to June, Jack is also survived by their children, Janelle (Randall) Sharp of South Bend, Julie Hinton of Osceola and Jay Yarbrough of South Bend; grandchildren, Dominic Bartolini of South Bend, Ashley (De'Von Rhodes) Sharp of Lakeville, Kayla (Nick Merrill) Hinton of North Liberty, Allyvia Hinton & Bryce Hinton, both of Osceola, Daniel (Tara) Sharp of Plymouth, Aaliyah Ethington of Buchanan MI; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Cherylann Marks Bahlenhorst. Visitation is Thursday from 4-8pm in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. with a Vigil Service at 5:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 Friday May 11, 2018 in St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Rd, Granger, where friends may call from 10-11am Friday in the church. Interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family's preferred memorials are St. Pius X Catholic Church or the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
