Jaesook Lee, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, at the age of 87. She was born on November 25, 1937, in Seoul, Korea, to Bong Woon Sim and Ahji Chang.
Jaesook's life journey was one marked by love, devotion, and a deep sense of family. Jaesook married the love of her life, Chan Woo Lee, in a union that spanned nearly 67 years, built on mutual respect, love and dedication to family. Together, they created a home filled with laughter and sense of belonging.
Jaesook was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who tirelessly cared for her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the heart of the household, offering comfort, wisdom, and unwavering support to all who came into her life. Her family was always her greatest joy.
Jaesook had an exceptional ability to bring people together especially through her cooking. Her culinary skills were well known amongst family and friends, making each gathering feel special.
In addition to her cooking, Jaesook was a skilled seamstress, spending countless hours creating beautiful garments that were worn with love and pride by those closest to her.
Jaesook was an active member of the Michiana Korean Presbyterian Church. Her dedication to the church was recognized in 2006, when she was honored as an Honorary Senior Deaconess, a testament to her selflessness and tireless service. Jaesook was also the recipient of the Model Family Award in Seoul in 1970, a recognition of her outstanding commitment to her family and her community.
Jaesook is survived by her loving husband, Chan Woo Lee, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and memories. She leaves behind her three children: Sang Hak (Mia) Lee, Sangmin (Melanie) Lee, and Sangyoung (Esther) Lee, each of whom carries with them the lessons and love she imparted throughout their lives. Jaesook is also survived by her siblings, Chul Sim and Jae Sung (Myung Sook) Sim, as well as her seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her great joy and pride.
Her life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family. Jaesook's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the community she served with such grace and compassion.
A service to celebrate Jaesook's life will be held at Michiana Korean Presbyterian Church, 29400 Co Rd 10, Elkhart, IN 46514, on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Following the service, Jaesook will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola, IN 46561.
Jaesook will forever be remembered for her love, faith, and the deep impact she had on all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, embraced by the love and grace she so freely shared with others throughout her life.
