James E. Duncan, Sr., 69, of Bristol, died at 8:49 am, Thursday, December 4, 2014 in his home surrounded by family. Jim was born on February 3, 1945, the son of Delmer and Mary Mae (Cooper) Duncan. On September 4, 1965, he married Janice Baldwin. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Janice; three children, James E. (Shawn) Duncan, Jr. of Bristol, Danna C. Duncan of Terre Haute, and Melissa (John) Osmon of Elkhart; 15 grandchildren, Brynnae (Elijah) Bender, Sterling Duncan, Alyana Duncan, Josiah Duncan, Esther Duncan, Ella Duncan, Elisha Duncan, Nora Duncan, Nathaniel Duncan, Titus Duncan, Silas Osmon, Malachi Osmon, Lazarus Osmon, Zedekiah Osmon, Jezreel Osmon; and two great grandchildren, Amarah and Evander Bender. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Mae Bond of Ringgold, GA, sister, Gwinell (Charles) Thomas of Ringgold, GA and brother in law, Gary Baldwin, Bristol. He is preceded in death by his father, Delmer, sisters, Melba, Sue Nell and Kimberly and brother Roger. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1972. He was a member of the NRA and loved shooting guns and bowling. He was also a member of River of Life Church, Elkhart. Jim will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Monday, December 8, 2014 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, December 9, 2014 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola with full military rites.
