Obituary

James S. Jones, 90, passed away February 26, 2018 while surrounded by his family. Mr. Jones was born to the late John and Laura (Snyder) Jones March 29, 1927 in Mishawaka, Indiana.

On June 19, 1948, Jim wed his loving wife, Irene Miller, in South Bend and celebrated 69 years of marriage together. Jim served his country proudly during WWII in the United States Army. Mr. Jones was an employee of General Electric. He worked for G.E. for 21 years before his retirement in 1989.

Jim was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He liked to go camping, scuba diving, water skiing and spent winters in Florida over the last 24 years. Jim shared his love of the outdoors with his kids as they were growing up. He always made a destination for his family to spend their vacations together. Jim taught all of his children to water ski and the value of enjoying nature and all it has to offer. His legacy lives on as his children have passed down these same values to their children. Jim loved his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Irene Jones; children, Brenda (Sid) Brugh, Kenneth (Sharon) Jones, Russell (Julie) Jones, and Carol (James) Ward; six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters, and one grandson.
