James L. Motter, age 82, of Osceola passed away on July 11, 2016 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was born November 27, 1933 to Clarence and Alta (Zirkle) Motter in Troy, Ohio where he attended the local schools. After graduating high school, James enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in September 1954 as a Second Class Storekeeper. In January of 1955, Jim enrolled in the University of Dayton night school and graduated in June of 1964 with a Bachelor''s Degree in Business. On February 23, 1973, Jim married Joyce Bricker. During his career he worked for various companies, mostly in the medical field. While employed by Ames Co., Division of Miles Laboratories, Inc. (now Bayer), Jim and two co-workers created the American Association of Diabetic Educators (AADE) in the 1970''s. The AADE still exists today with over 10,000 members. Jim is survived by his wife, Joyce of Osceola; three sons, Arin Motter of Indianapolis, IN, Herb (Jeanette) Motter of Pickerington, OH, and Michael (Gail) Motter of Peoria, AZ; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Harold Bingaman of Edwardsburg, MI; sister-in-law, Roxanne Motter of Fort Collins, CO; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Alta Motter; his daughter, Teya; and his brother, Richard Motter.
