James Alan Murphy, 54, of Mishawaka, passed away at 9:38 am, Thursday, February 27, 2014 in his home. Jim was born on July 18, 1959, the son of the late Thomas G. "Jerry" and Clares E. (Grebe) Murphy. Jim is survived by two children, Ashley Murphy of Denver, CO and Jeff Murphy of Texas; three grandchildren, and sister, Barbara (David) Cocanower of Osceola. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Sherry Gwynn and her daughter, sister in law, Karen Murphy of Osceola, as well as, many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Thomas G. "Jerry" Murphy, II and Donald J. "Donny" Murphy. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post 308, Osceola and spent most of his time at the Osceola Drag Strip. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the following people. Sherry Gwynn for her tender care and being a loving friend, Carol and Chuck Heltzel also for their loving care that was so much appreciated. Dr. W. Kamanda, the Center for Hospice, the 4th floor at Elkhart General Hospital and all the many staff members who were involved in his care There will be no visitation or funeral. His ashes will be buried at a later date. Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola is handling arrangements.
