James R. Lester, age 61, of Elkhart, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at home. He was born April 17, 1955 to John and Patsy (Harbaugh) Lester in South Bend, Indiana. He attended Penn High School. After 35 years of Tig welding in the Elkhart RV industry, Jim started his own business. No customer project was too large or too small. By using his excellent problem solving skills, Jim was able to bring the customers'' vision to life. Although his customers felt he never charged enough, Jim was more invested in the values of helping and creating than the value of the dollar.

Jim is survived by his loving companion of 24 years, Chris Gerrard; his niece and nephews, Kim Baldwin, John C. Lester, Joshua Brown, and Jake Brown and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Patsy Lester; his brother, John Dale Lester; and his sister, Jennifer Lester-Brown.

Whether he was riding a motorcycle, fishing, walking in the woods, or feeding the squirrels and birds in the yard, Jim had a keen appreciation for life. He was an accomplished guitarist who especially enjoyed the blues. Jim truly will be missed.
