James Allen Van Huis, 68, of Granger, passed away March 15, 2016 at his home. His physical heart lost the battle with congestive heart failure, but the heart he felt for his Saviour, his family and his friends remain ever strong."He was born in Holland, Michigan on January 25, 1948 to the late Leon & Marjorie (Galbraith) Van Huis. After graduation from Grand Rapids Baptist College, he began his ministry as Youth Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Romeo, MI. He then moved to South Bend where he served as Athletic Director, coach and teacher at Grace Baptist Christian School. He served his Saviour for many years as teacher and leader of the singles ministry, usher and deacon of Grace Baptist Church of South Bend and First Baptist Church in Mishawaka. He was also an agent for Allstate Insurance for 24 years. Jim loved his family, life & people and he never met a stranger; he loved to travel & vacation with his children & grandchildren and enjoyed playing & following all sports. Jim is survived by Karen Van Huis, his wife of 47 years and his daughters, Janet (Wayne) Wilson and Ruth Anne (Randy) Clifton, both of South Bend; his son, David (Crystal) Van Huis of Cassopolis and his five grandchildren, who were the joy of his life; Kyle & Shawn Van Huis and Alayna, James & Titus Clifton. Jim also leaves two brothers, Michael (Susan) Van Huis of Tampa, FL and Steven (Cris) Van Huis of Holland, MI. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00pm Saturday March 19, 2016 in First Baptist Church, 724 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Friends may call from 2-3pm in the church.
