Jane L. Kraus, 89, of South Bend, passed away at 3:29 am, Sunday, July 19, 2009 in Hospice House of Elkhart. Jane was born on November 20, 1919 in Mishawaka, IN to the late Ralph and Lillian F. (Callen) Shank. Jane has been a member of United Pentecostal Church since 1983. She worked and retired from Barger Box of Elkhart and worked as a telephone operator for many years.
She is survived by seven children, Charles (JoAnn) Kraus of Port Ludlow, WA, Judy (Homer) Stogsdill of Granger, James S. Kraus, Jr. of South Bend, Kathy (Melvin) Yaw of Greenville, NC, Ruth (David) Short of South Bend, William A. Kraus of South Bend and John (Denise) Kraus of South Bend, IN. Fourteen grandchildren and Sixteen great grandchildren survive as well as one brother, Rex Benninghoff and two sisters, Rosemary (Ray) Jenkins and Sharon Johns, both of Mishawaka. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James S. Kraus, Sr. who passed away on July 20, 1975, one daughter, Nancy Jane Szachna, one grandson, Ralph Yaw, and one sister, Virginia Osborne.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, July 22, 2009 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 23, 2009 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Rev. Kenneth Mendenhall will officiate.
