Janet Ellen Bayes, 78, of Elkhart, entered into eternal rest on July 6, 2022. She was born on July 30, 1943 to the late Paul and Olive Jones in Elkhart, IN. Janet was a seamstress, a wonderful baker, and an avid NASCAR fan. She loved her pets and going on camping trips. Janet was a code enforcement officer for over 30 years for the Elkhart Building Department.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elaine (Jones) Caldwell.

Janet is survived by her children, Dan (Martha) Bayes, Matt (Jennelle) Bayes, and David Bayes; brother, Tom (Becky) Jones; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM with the Funeral Service to begin at 1:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home,10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN 46561. A private burial will be held at a later date in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Pet Refuge, Inc.
